From hosting Totally Wild to a Masters in Applied Psychology, and a lot in between.
Scott Bidmead grew up on the Gold Coast, spent his teens in a small surf town, secondhand everything, and found his way into television, hosting and directing for Network Ten across Australia, the US, and China. From swimming with sharks to interviewing A-list celebrities. Learning that the life he had pictured from the outside looked very different from the inside. Along the way he burnt out. A Master of Applied Psychology didn't help.
Kicking off a chaotic journey of discovery, moving to LA, starting a business, then another. An obsession with martial arts. A corporate wellbeing software exit, then Planna, the proptech that taught him to build a business he could live around. Some worked, lots didn't, all taught him something.
And The Next Room, his first book — narrative nonfiction about the trap of putting everything in the next room, and what's actually there when you stop.
Scott is a Mumbrella Award winner, a former Chair of Headspace, and an Ambassador for Youngcare and Livin. He has spoken at SXSW and Forbes. Featured in the AFR, SMH, GQ, Morning Shows. He's currently building a wellbeing retreat, and a life as an author and speaker. Living in Sydney with his partner Tara, and a cocker spaniel Rollo, whose only ambition is a walk.
